troll headcanon
→ Adult trolls range from 6' to 8' tall, not including their horns. (Compare to humans' 4'8" - 6' 8", the latter end being extremely tall, the former extremely short.) Height and gender are not as directly related as they tend to be with humans; it's much more common to find taller women and shorter men.
→ Horn sensitivity is directly related to two things: size and wear. Equius's horns, for example, are probably not very sensitive, since they seem to get treated pretty roughly. Tavros's likewise, what with their being so large. Karkat and Terezi's are probably quite sensitive. These aren't strict guidelines; it's possible for a large-horned troll to be somewhat sensitive, or a small-horned troll to be fairly desensitized, but it's relatively uncommon.
→ Sensitive or not, grabbing a troll's horns is a pretty ballsy move. You should be, ideally, very well acquainted with them before doing so. A complete stranger grabbing someone's horns is pretty much assumed to be looking for a fight. Invariably, horn-grabbing is either hostile or sexual in nature, depending on the relationship between grabber and grabbee, and the way the grabbing is done.
→ Sea-dwellers have multiple rows of teeth! I imagine Feferi to have at least three, and Eridan at least two. They work the way sharks' do; if a tooth is broken or lost, a tooth from the row behind migrates forward. Land-dwellers also regrow teeth, but much more slowly. However, their teeth are more firmly rooted and harder to damage.
