detailing on the bad guys

also, I am going to put way too much thought into this. I always overbuild.

humanoid, if sleeker. shoulders on men are less broad, hips and breasts on women are petite.

gills on their necks, on either side and down low. fingers and toes are webbed; toes are somewhat longer than humans'.

skin is pale beige-white, sometimes with pearly coral/pink tones due to exposure to sun, and slick and smooth. their palms and soles of their feet are like sandpaper.

teeth are sharp and finely serrated, and grow in two rows inside their mouths, one behind the other. they lose and regrow teeth the way sharks do, if not as often.

fins on the sides of their faces, which cover their (very small) ears when submerged. females' are frilly and feathery; males' are spiky with low webbing. matching, if shorter, fins run the lengths of their shoulder blades.

hair is fine, fine, fine, and infiltrated with thin stinging tentacles, like a jellyfish. the stinging properties are very low; it would only hurt in contact with very sensitive skin.

eyes are double-lidded and can adjust to very low light (massively dilated pupils, while the tentacles in their hair have phosphorescent properties) or bright light (tiny, pinprick pupils, giving the illusion that they have none).

eyes are invariably some shade of blue or blue-green, but any shade from pastel to midnight can occur. hair is any colour in the spectrum, but only in very bright shades. the tentacles are usually dialed back a shade (orange hair, pink tentacles; blue hair, green tentacles; purple hair, blue tentacles) or dialed up a shade (orange hair, yellow tentacles; blue hair, purple tentacles; purple hair, pink tentacles).

the tentacles are always at least shoulder- to shoulder-blade-length. wearing one's hair shorter than one's tentacles is considered a sign of an aggressive personality.

Aequorea, Aequoreans. the Aequoreans living on Earth for the purpose of our story live out in the Pacific, deep down on the bottom in their spaceship, which is defunct, obviously, or these dudes would be gone already. the control rooms of the ship are dry, as are the 'airwalks,' the walkways leading from the control rooms that dominate the upper part of the ship. the lower three-quarters of the ship contain their quarters and living spaces, and are filled with water, furnishings built of alien coral, etc.

that's all I can think of for the moment, but I'll get back to this, I'm sure. sob, worldbuilding, my one true weakness...
